Home Energy Saver Loan by Brighte
Take control of your energy costs with a 0% interest, no fee, NSW Government back loan
The NSW Government’s Home Energy Saver Loan Program lets eligible households spread the cost of solar, a battery and other energy upgrades over up to 10 years, with no interest. Here is how it actually works, including the part most people miss.
What is the NSW Government’s Home Energy Saver Loan Program?
The Home Energy Saver Loan is a $557 million NSW Government program that launched on 17 June 2026. Eligible households with a combined taxable income of up to $210,000 can borrow up to $15,000 at zero interest, repaid over up to 10 years, to pay for energy upgrades including rooftop solar, home batteries, insulation, reverse cycle air conditioning and switchboard upgrades. A separate discount stream of up to $4,000 opens later in 2026 for households earning up to $80,000 or holding an eligible concession card.
One thing worth being clear about up front: the $15,000 is a loan, not a grant. You repay every dollar you borrow. What you do not pay is interest, and that is where the value sits.
What does interest free actually save you?
On a $15,000 loan over 10 years, the difference between zero interest and a typical unsecured personal loan is thousands of dollars in interest you simply do not pay. That is the real benefit, and it is a genuine one.
The other benefit is timing. Instead of waiting until you have saved the full amount, your system starts cutting your power bill from the day it is switched on, while you are still paying it off. For a lot of households the bill saving covers a meaningful chunk of the repayment.
We will do that sum with you properly, using your actual bill, before you commit to anything.
